Preparation and Submission of Manuscripts

The following rules must be observed in the preparation of manuscripts submitted to Mediaverse: Journal of Media and Communication Studies:

Language and Correspondence

  • The publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English.

  • Unless otherwise stated, all correspondence regarding the manuscript is conducted through the first author.

  • Manuscripts must be submitted online via https://mediaverse.com.

Required Files

  • Manuscript file (prepared based on the template and uploaded accordingly)

  • Author Information and Copyright Agreement Form


Publication Policy

  • Accepted manuscripts awaiting publication are made available under the heading “Online First”.

  • All legal and ethical responsibility for submitted works belongs to the author(s).

  • Manuscripts not prepared in accordance with the journal’s writing guidelines may be rejected without peer review.


Manuscript Format

  • Page size: A4, margins: 2.5 cm

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Line spacing: single (1.0)

  • Word count requirements:

    • Research and review articles: 6000–12000 words

    • Review essays: 2000–8000 words


Abstract and Keywords

  • At the beginning of the manuscript, there must be Turkish and English abstracts of 150–250 words.

  • Turkish keywords must be placed under the Turkish abstract; English keywords under the English abstract (up to 5 keywords).


Manuscript Sections

Manuscripts are expected to include the following headings:

  • Title: in both Turkish and English

  • Abstract and Keywords: in both Turkish and English

  • Main Text: including sub-sections for introduction, methodology, findings, discussion, and conclusion

  • References: prepared in accordance with APA 7th edition style


Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures should be placed within the relevant sections of the text.

  • Use tables and figures only when necessary; small amounts of data should be explained in the text.


Quotations and Emphasis

  • Quotations longer than 40 words should be presented in a separate block with single line spacing.

  • Emphasis should be indicated with single quotation marks, while book, newspaper, and film titles must be written in italics.


Peer Review and Revisions

  • Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript based on peer-review reports.

  • Manuscripts rejected for publication will not be returned to the authors.


Article Types and Structure

Research Articles

  • Introduction: Introduce the research problem in connection with the literature; indicate originality and methodology.

  • Objective and Methodology: Clearly state the purpose, research questions, and hypotheses. Specify model, sample, data collection tools, and analysis methods.

  • Findings: Present research results clearly and systematically.

  • Discussion and Conclusion: Compare findings with the literature and provide recommendations.

Review Articles

  • Introduction: Define the topic with reference to the literature; explain originality and approach.

  • Discussion and Conclusion: Provide interpretations based on the literature review and offer contributions to the field.

Review Essays

  • Provide a critical perspective on the subject discussed.

  • The heading structure is flexible.


References and Citation Style

All in-text citations and references must be prepared in accordance with APA 7th edition. The reference list should be ordered alphabetically by author surname and presented without numbering.

  • Single author: (Demir, 2020)

  • Two authors: (Yılmaz & Aksoy, 2019, p. 45)

  • Three or more authors: (Kaya et al., 2021)

  • Corporate author: (United Nations [UN], 2022); subsequent citation: (UN, 2022)

  • Same author, same year: (Aydın, 2021a; Aydın, 2021b)

  • Direct quotation: “...” (Öztürk, 2020, p. 112)

  • Multiple sources: (Kara, 2015; Özdemir, 2017, p. 35; Yılmaz & Çetin, 2019)

The accuracy and completeness of references are the responsibility of the author(s). All sources cited in the text must be listed in the references, and all references must be properly cited in the text.
