Reviewer Guideline
Reviewer Guide
The peer review process at Mediaverse Journal is based on a double-blind review system, ensuring the scientific quality and adherence to ethical standards of submitted manuscripts. Reviewers are expected to thoroughly evaluate submissions and provide objective, constructive feedback. Below is a guide outlining the responsibilities and ethical principles that reviewers must follow during the review process, along with the editorial-reviewer relationship framework.
Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief
- The editor-in-chief evaluates manuscripts without regard to the authors’ ethnicity, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, or political views.
- Ensures that all submissions undergo a fair and confidential double-blind peer review process.
- The editor-in-chief is responsible for the scientific and ethical integrity of published content and, when necessary, will issue corrections or publish errata.
- Holds the authority to assign reviewers and makes the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.
- Takes all necessary precautions to prevent conflicts of interest among authors, reviewers, and editors.
The editor-in-chief evaluates submitted manuscripts for originality, methodology, the significance of the topic, and alignment with the journal’s scope. Manuscripts that pass plagiarism screening are considered for further review and moved forward to the peer review process.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
-
Confidentiality and Objectivity
- Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts independently of the authors’ identities, focusing solely on the scientific content.
- All information about submitted manuscripts must remain confidential and cannot be shared outside the review process.
-
Conflict of Interest
- Reviewers must notify the editor immediately if they have any potential conflicts of interest (e.g., with the authors, funding sources, or affiliated institutions) and recuse themselves from the review process if necessary.
-
Expertise and Timeliness
- If reviewers feel unqualified to assess the subject matter of a manuscript or cannot complete the review within the allotted time, they must inform the editor promptly and decline the review invitation.
-
Copyright and Plagiarism
- If reviewers detect any instances of copyright infringement or plagiarism, they must report these issues to the editor.
-
Evaluation and Feedback
- Reviewers must provide clear, constructive, and scholarly feedback. Their recommendations should be well-reasoned and aimed at helping authors improve their work.
Ethical Principles in the Review Process
- The editor communicates that all submitted manuscripts are considered the authors' intellectual property and must be treated as confidential.
- Reviewers must not discuss manuscripts with anyone outside the review process or share their content.
- Reviewer identities are kept anonymous. In certain cases, the editor may share reviewer comments with other reviewers of the same manuscript to ensure transparency and foster dialogue.
Preparing the Review Report
The review report should include:
- General Assessment: An overview of the manuscript's scientific contribution, originality, and relevance to the field.
- Strengths: Highlighting the strong points and contributions of the study.
- Weaknesses and Suggestions: Identifying areas for improvement and providing constructive recommendations.
- Final Decision: A recommendation to accept, revise, or reject the manuscript.
Review Process and Decision-Making
- Manuscripts that have not been previously published, are not under review in another journal, and have been approved by all authors are accepted for evaluation.
- Manuscripts that pass plagiarism screening are reviewed by the editor-in-chief for originality, methodology, and alignment with the journal's scope.
- Suitable manuscripts are sent to at least two national or international reviewers for double-blind peer review.
- Based on the reviewers’ feedback, authors revise their work as needed. The final decision regarding publication is made by the editor-in-chief.
