Plagiarism Policy

Mediaverse Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring that all published works are original contributions to the field. To maintain these standards, the following plagiarism policy has been established:

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the presentation of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words as one's own without appropriate acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, figures, or data from other sources without proper citation.
  • Self-plagiarism, where authors reuse their previously published content without appropriate acknowledgment or justification.
  • Paraphrasing another’s work without proper attribution.
  • Submitting a manuscript that includes content taken from third-party sources, such as websites, articles, or books, without proper acknowledgment.

Plagiarism Detection

  • All submissions to Mediaverse Journal undergo a rigorous plagiarism check using reliable plagiarism detection software before they are sent for peer review.
  • Manuscripts with a similarity index higher than 20% (excluding references and quoted text) are flagged for further review.
  • Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts or provide additional explanations for any flagged sections.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected, the following steps will be taken:

  1. Before Acceptance

    • The manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for revision or rejection, depending on the severity of the plagiarism.
    • If major plagiarism is identified, the submission will be rejected outright, and the authors may be barred from submitting to the journal for a specified period.
  2. After Acceptance

    • If plagiarism is detected after acceptance but before publication, the publication process will be suspended, and the manuscript will be returned to the authors for explanation or revision.
    • In cases of severe plagiarism, the manuscript may be withdrawn.
  3. After Publication

    • If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article may be retracted, and a notice of retraction will be issued.
    • The authors' institutions may be informed about the breach of ethical standards.

Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Authors must ensure that their work is original and that all sources are properly cited.
  • Authors are required to confirm in their submission that their manuscript does not violate any ethical standards, including plagiarism.
  • Authors must obtain permission for any third-party materials included in their manuscript and provide proper attribution.

Reviewers’ Role

  • Reviewers are encouraged to report any suspected plagiarism they identify during the peer review process.
  • Reports of suspected plagiarism will be thoroughly investigated by the editorial team.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • The editorial team is responsible for investigating all allegations of plagiarism and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
  • The journal will work transparently with authors, reviewers, and institutions to address plagiarism concerns.

This plagiarism policy reflects Mediaverse Journal’s commitment to academic integrity, originality, and the advancement of knowledge in media and communication studies.
